Island Peak The Khumbu Climber - 3 Week Trekking Itinerary Accompany
a group of potential Everest summiteers A chance to partake in a classic trek in the Gokyo, Khumbu and Chukkung valleys. Whilst en route to the village of Gokyo (with an ascent of Gokyo Ri for sunset views of Everest) we visit the world renowned Namche Bazaar. After Namche Bazaar the Everest Summit group will head West and the shorter 3 week group will head up the magnificent Gokyo valley. There are a couple of days scheduled in Gokyo to allow for an ascent of Gokyo Ri as well as a chance to explore further up the Gokyo valley towards Cho Oyu (the 6th highest mountain in the world) and the superb views afforded alongside the 5th lake. After crossing the Cho La (a glaciated but non technical high level pass that connects the Gokyo and Khumbu valleys) you will then continue with an ascent of Kala Pattar and a side trip to Everest Base Camp. You will then move on to climb a gem of a trekking peak called Pokalde, crossing the Kongma La which affords some of the finest views in The Khumbu. This is a great way to acclimatise for your forthcoming adventures on Island Peak which at 6189m, or 20299ft, is a justifiably popular trekking peak. Throughout the course of the trip the views are dominated by some of the world's most famous mountains including Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, Makalu and Everest. All in all a stunning trip through some awesomely impressive mountain scenery. This 3 week itinerary is based on a Saturday to Sunday 23 day period. Day 1 - Dep UK.
